Hello dear friends walking WITH dogs.
You have received my article about the difference that exists for me between "walking my dogs" and "walking WITH my dogs".
I have created this blog in order to invite you to write your comments.
Over the year, me preparing and organizing the walks and sending you the invitations has been a rather one sided affair. Maybe, and I really mean MAYBE this blog will change that a little bit.Maybe you will finally send me a message.
I am even thinking about the possibility to stop sending the invitations for the walks by email, replacing them by a message on this blog. We will see.
Come on rise and shine, wake up, let me hear YOUR VOICE. About the walks you have done with me in the past, about the walks you do every morning and every evening with your dogs. About what happens during these walks. About what you think during these walks.About where you would like to walk in the future.
About where you do not want to walk.
Even if you have been walking with me 10 years ago, or 1 year ago, and you never came back.
Even if you moved back to England, to Australia, Deutschland, Ireland, or South Africa, you can still write to me and to all the other members of the Sunday morning walking group who prefer to walk WITH our dogs.
I was talking to Susan from Pego about the difference between "I walk my dogs" and "I walk WITH my dogs. She saw the difference very clearly because she told me:"If I say that I walk WITH my dogs, it means that I walk in a partnership": I liked this very much.
Do you like it too?
Con nuestro amigo don Carlos Lara he hablado del mismo asunto. Pero me gusteria saber como escribirlo corectamente en Español. Carlos ayudame y dame tu traduccion en el idioma de Cervantes.

Miyou and I have been walking with the Sunday group for two years now and we both enjoy it immensely, making new friends and discovering countryside we wouldn't have found on our own. More importantly I have learnt a lot. I have shared my life with dogs for many years and believed that I understood a lot and was good at training them. Two things changed that impression for me, the first was finding Miyou in 2006, or perhaps he found me, because he came into my life just as a good friend was leaving Spain to return to the UK. He was the most independent and 'stubborn' dog I had ever known (typical Malamute) and I struggled to communicate with him and train him. After several months I began to understand this noble and intelligent creature and our bond of trust and respect grew and our relationship strengthened, we are friends and family. About 2 years ago I met Bruno and Miyou and I joined the Sunday walking group, this is where I have learned much more about the relationships between dogs and their humans just by watching and listening, dogs truly are a reflection of their owners. So Bruno, Miyou and I thank you and other contributors for your wonderful walks and giving your time every Sunday to show us your beautiful valley. We miss a few every now and then but we'd be the poorer without them. Jeni & Miyou x
ReplyDeleteDearest Jeni,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your beautiful message.
You know that I enjoy your company and the company of your dog and I am sure I am not the only one in the walking group to say that.
Keep on writing and walking.

ReplyDeleteCreo que muchos de nosotros si no fuera gracias a los perros privariamos de pasar tan buenos momentos... is what Carlot wrote in his comment.
According to me he is absolutely right.
Without our dogs we would probably walk less.
This is an assumption,I know, but this assumption would be the truth for me. Without the company of my dogs I would walk less.
When I was a long distance runner I liked the trainings more than the competitions. During the trainings I was never alone. I ran tens of thousands of km together with my friends and training partners.I liked the company, the rythm of the pounding feet on the soil, the friendship, the competitive spirit.....and the drinks after the shower.
I stopped competing when I turned 50 and since then my dogs have been my walking partners.
Walking with the Sunday Morning Walking Group (SMWG) is a treat for me, because I love observing the interaction between the humans and the dogs.
Last Sunday we could all see the interaction between one lady and her 3 dogs.
She lives in a house alongside the track we were using to walk back to the village.
Through the open gate, her dogs came running to us. The lady ran after the dogs, shouting at them in an angry voice. With her body language she was telling us: I am frustrated with these bad dogs who will not listen to me. The dogs ignored her completely. They were busy sniffing, which means they were having a social talk with dogs from our walking pack.
When the lady finally grabbed the collar of one dog, she started hitting him.
What do you think the dog will do next time, when this lady calls him?
