Making conscious choices / Domingo 19.06.2011

Why do we have dogs?
In order to create problems?
In order to create unhappiness?

Obviously we want to create happiness in our lives and in the lives of our dogs.
That implies the action of conscious choice-making.
You and I are essentially infinite choice makers. In every moment of our existence we are in the field of all possibilities where we have access to an infinity of choices. Some of these choices are made consciously, while others are made unconsciously. The best way to understand and maximize the use of this karmic law is to become consciously aware of the choices we make in every moment.

Whether you like it or not, everything that is happening to you now at this very moment is a result of the choices you have made in the past. Unfortunately, a lot of us make choices unconsciously and therefore we do not think they are choices - and yet, they are.
If I were to insult you, you would most likely make the choice of being offended. If I were to make you a compliment, you would most likely make the choice of being pleased or flattered. But you could also make the choice of NOT being offended or you could make the choice of NOT letting that flatter you either.
Most of us have become bundles of conditioned reflexes that are being triggered by people and circumstances into predictable outcomes of behavior.
These conditioned reflexes are like Pavlovian conditioning.
If you step back for a moment and witness the choices you are making as you make those choices, then in just this act of witnessing, you take the whole process from the unconscious realm into the conscious realm.
This procedure of conscious choice-making and witnessing is very empowering.

My suggestion is:

next time when you say your dog goes BERSERK (an interesting Icelandic word meaning "bear-coat") or when you say that your dog goes MAD,
step back and witness why you use these words. Is your dog really MAD? Or is (s)he telling you something you do not fully understand.
Your dog is always very clear in her/his communication.
If you are conscious about what you have done or what has happened and what it really means for your dog, then you will start understanding her/him much better than before.

Walk in Jalón 19.06.2011

Thank you Trevor for showing us the way around Benimeli.
The pizzeria in Orba will be closed this coming Sunday. Thank you Alex for taking the trouble of checking this out.
My suggestion is to accompany me on an evening walk in my beautiful Jalón. We will meet at the Oficina de Turismo where I will leave at 19.30 and after a bit more than an hour we will end up at the bars on the plaza Las Ocas.
On Sunday evenings litterally hundreds of youngsters are visiting the Telaraña bar. So there might not be a lot of parking space available. For that reason it might be advisable to park in the river bed.
