Caminatas en Alcalalí y Jávea

Having had the honour of learning a new kata with master Miguel Gomez,
I am now back in Jalón.
Therefore my idea is to walk this coming Sunday in Alcalalí and the
week after in JAVEA.
As Liz spoke enthusiastically about the breakfast we had some time ago
in Café Wien on the Arenal, I thought : Let us do it again.

1. Sunday 23.01.2011 we meet at 10.00 at the church in Alcalalí for an
easy 1,5 hour walk.

2. Sunday 30.01.2011 we meet for breakfast at 10.00 in Café Wien on
the Arenal in Jávea.
As you all receive my weekly letters you know that Wien is the capital
of Austria. In Spanish it is called Café Austriaco. After an excellent
breakfast, let us say at 11.00 we will drive to the carretera Jesus
Pobre where we will park the cars and start the walk. It is also an
easy flat walk but it will take us a bit more than 2 hrs.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE COMING FOR BREAKFAST AND WITH HOW MANY PERSONS.

Empezaremos a

Adventurous walks

This is a blog about dogs and about people walking with dogs.
Offering our dogs a walk in a pack off leash is magnificent.
It offers them the opportunity to experience being very close to nature. Very close to their natural habitat and their natural behaviour.
Dogs are pack animals.
Just like we are.
Dogs are born in packs, live in packs, hunt in packs, eat in packs, mate in packs until they die and leave for the eternal hunting fields.
Dogs never go for a walk.
No animal on this planet ever goes for a walk.
Except the animals in Walt Disney movies, and they do not exist.
If we walk with our dogs, the humans walk but the dogs hunt.
They sniff, look, listen, hear and feel while looking for a prey.
Except when they are living in the wild, as free dogs, our pets NEVER get so close to their natural behaviour of HUNTING in a pack, as when they walk with us on a Sunday morning.

Suppose you are not walking with me.
Suppose you walk on your own, with your dog(s), then I have a request for you.
My request is: make an effort and bring variation in your walks.
Even our Roman ancestors knew this thousands of years ago. You want proof? Look at their saying "Varietas delectat", what in English means "variation brings joy, pleasure, happiness."

Do NOT walk always the same block if you live in town.
Do NOT always walk in the same park, close to where you live.
Do NOT always walk the same route if you live in the country side.
It is boring for your dog.
I also think it would be very boring for myself, if I would do that.

What I do is different.
You can easily copy what I do.
Your dog(s) will love it.
Many times, when I leave for a walk, I put my dogs in the van and I drive off. Driving I am scanning in my mind the walks I know in the area and then I choose. When we arrive at the spot that I have chosen for that day, I will start the walk and be alert. Being alert means paying attention to the trees, the sun, the clouds, the wind, the flowers and all the other beautiful living beings in nature. Sometimes I see a rabbit, or a wild boar, or free ranging dogs or a fox. But sometimes I see a track that I have never used. Sometimes it is my dogs who discover a track hidden between the high grass and I will follow them.
It is exciting to follow an unknown track. It is exciting and adventurous to discover a new route.

This morning a member of the Sunday Morning Dog Walking Group asked me: "How come you know so many different walks?"
The man was surprised when I told him that it is a question of discovering and exploring. For me it is normal to always look for an unknown track.
My, for my part, I am very surprised that so many people who come to my walks do not know anything about the area where they have been living for years. It is during mu Sunday morning walks that they discover new tracks, new panoramic views, new bars, new restaurants, new villages.
It is my assumption that most of them do always the same boring walks with their dogs.

You can change this, for yourself and for your dog(s).
Start exploring. Bring some adventure in your life and in their lives.
Do not always walk down the same trodden footpaths.
It is good for your dog(s), good for your mind and good for your soul.

And if you have "made" a new walk, show it to us.
I will be delighted to come and walk with you.

Happy walking.

Mandy has telepathic contact with her dog

On 5 January 2011Mandy Du Plessis wrote:

Hi Bruno

"I accept that changing our behaviour is not easy. I know this from personal experience. But I also know that making an effort is more than worthwhile."
What a wonderful thing to read!! Thank you!

I started reading a book by Jenny Shone - a South African lady who communicates with animals using telepathy. I came home and tried it on my dog.
She (Tex) usually runs away with the ball, but this time I asked her calmly, in my mind, to bring the ball and just let it drop. And she did.
I was so taken aback that I of all people had accomplished that with thought alone. It's such a struggle for most people to quieten their minds and focus on thought and intention, as opposed to acting out and showing. We don't seem to realise that it's only a challenge to make it a habit - thinking is much easier than doing! And in the mind, all things are possible - so how much more can we achieve with our beloved creature friends using what is most natural??

I've recently acquired three Deepak Chopra books (Peace is the way, The way of the Wizard, and Getting to know God). I would LOVE to read Life after Death too!

Thank you for your always inspiring emails.

Mandy

ps: I'd just like to share with you that I have taken the path of being vegetarian. I have wanted to for a while but lacked the dedication and motivation (I love meat). I watched the film "Earthlings" and cried almost all the way through. I shared it with a friend and we both decided to stop eating meat that very evening. I still drink milk and eat honey, but those are the only things I'll consume - no fish, eggs or other animal proteins. It has happened so quickly but I am already finding meat distasteful to look at. I still enjoy the smell, but I soon realise it's more the sauce or basting on the meat that I enjoy. Here's to a cleaner, healthier and more animal-friendly new year!

Clear communication or telepathy?

Carolyn made me smile with her message.
These are my comments.

Yes, Carolyn,

I am smiling. I am smiling because your message is a magnificent present for me. You write a few lines and these few lines put a smile on my face. Can life be better?

It is my opinion (and opinions are the cheapest commodity on this planet because we all have more than enough opinions about everything), so .....it is my opinion that we are all well-trained human beings.
But I make a difference between those who are conscious of the fact that we have been trained and many others who will strongly negate that we have been trained.
Don Miguel Ruiz calls this not "training" but the "domestication" of the human being.

If I know that what I am thinking or doing Now is the result of a training I got when I was a child, I become the observer of my own behaviour.
Then I can switch off the training program, come to the present moment, and start acting like the adult I am NOW. That moment I can take action or make decisions as a conscious human being and not as an unconscious domesticated child in an adult body.

Our dogs know this. They live in the present and can read our body language, feel our feelings-vibrations and read our minds in an amazing way.

I quote from your message:

But when he sits in front of me and stares at me, I know exactly what he wants - no water in my bowl, I need to go out, I am bored and want to play. If only he understood me as well!!

If you think your dog does not understand you well, go inside yourself. Get to know yourself. Look into your heart. Feel your feelings. Analyse and ask your self the question if you act and speak with clear communication.
It is my perception that clients who cannot communicate clearly, consistently and honestly with their dogs, cannot communicate clearly, consistently and honestly with other human beings and can certainly not communicate clearly and honestly with themselves.
These are the people who will say at the end of my first home call "I will call you". While they are saying it I can clearly read in their body language that they will NEVER call me.
When I am dealing with Spanish clients they will say things like "hablaremos". Translated it means "we will talk later" but I do know it really means "jamas hablaremos", meaning "we will never talk later".
These are the people you meet in the street, who love to talk about the weather. Before leaving they might say "You and your wife, you must come along to our place for drinks." When I then ask when, where and at what time they want us to show up on their doorstep, they will say they will call, something they never do.

These are a few examples of the superficial way we behave in many situations. Many times we simply pretend.

Our dogs never do this. They do not pretend, judge, blame or criticize. They never lie. That makes it so easy to understand them. At least for people who do not lie, pretend, judge, blame or criticize.....

I agree - I go to the UK most months to see my mother. I never get my bag out of the cupboard until the last minute but Jack is restless all day. He settles down OK with John whilst I am away until the day I am coming home and then John says he is "like a cat on hot bricks". Several hours before it is time to go to the airport he starts whining and being a general nuisance until they get in the car to go and pick me up from the airport.

Now, whether you would call this telepathy or whether I am just a well trained human I don't know. But when he sits in front of me and stares at me, I know exactly what he wants - no water in my bowl, I need to go out, I am bored and want to play. If only he understood me as well!!

Hope the above makes you smile!

Daphne and animal telepathy

Thanks Daphne, for your story that I post underneath my comments.

But if I read it twice I cannot see anything that resembles animal telepathy.
What Rupert Sheldrake discovered was telepathic communication between a human in one building and her/his dog in a totally different building. When the humans started thinking about walking, the majority of the dogs showed all the behaviour of a keen dog expecting to go for a walk WITHOUT HAVING SEEN, HEARD OR SMELLED the human.

According to me, you peak in your testimonial about your ability to read the body language and the feelings of your dog, when you were very close to each other.
Nevertheless it is a nice story.
Thank you very much for sending it.

WHAT DAPHNE WROTE

Dear Bruno,
Regarding animal telepathy, yes I have experienced this kind of thing over the years with dogs. I firmly believe that a lot of the time they do recognise your thoughts and act accordingly. I find that the slightest difference in a routine and the dog is aware of it, even though you try to be ´normal´. (not possible, they pick everything up at once).

Sadly, I have found that when your dog is very ill or very tired because of illness they will tell you when they have had enough. I remember, Holly, my last dog who lived to be over 17 (a Labrador) but in the end couldn´t walk but she was happy and eating and interested in everything that was going on around her, until one night. I was sleeping with her and all night she just stared at me with her big eyes, with her paw on my hand and I knew she was telling me..´Mum, I am tired and want to be at peace´´
I knew with such a conviction and I also knew I had to do the right thing by her the next day.I am sure she knew how I felt because at the last minute at the vets she looked up and licked my face as if to say ´thank you mum´´ We were as one without any words.

Not quite what you wanted to hear Bruno I know. There have been other moments during my life and the life of my dogs where they knew how I was feeling and yes, what I was thinking, so believe entirely that dogs are telepathic.

Love.

Walk and lunch

Dear friends walking with dogs,

Over the years we have been walking a lot. Some of you have joined me hundreds of times for walks in our beautiful Costa Blanca area. By the way: My Spanish friends never call the area where we walk "Costa Blanca". That is a name which has been invented by an advertising agency working for the local ministry of tourism. For my Spanish friends the region is called "La Marina". The Marina is divided by the Sierra de Bernia in 2 different areas called "La Marina Alta" and "La Marina Baja (or Baixa in Valenciano)".

I am not the kind of person who finds a sense of security in always doing the same, in routine.
For that reason I want to do smething different for this coming Sunday 09.01.2011. My proposal is the following:

We will walk in Campell, located in the Vall de Laguar, and at the end of our walk we will have lunch together in the cosy restaurant restaurant called "La Bruixa" (which is Valencina for La Bruja, which means the Witch in English). The restaurant takes its name from the legend of Esme who is supposed to have lived on the sierra del Caballo Verde, the twin peaked mountain that is overlooking the Vall de Laguar.

We can have lunch in La Bruixa starting from 13.00 hours. The price of the menu is 17€ per person. It is my personal experience that the food is excellent, the service is more than friendly and that the location is beautiful.

What I propose is the following:

- As many friends walking with dogs have never been to Campell, and as these new friends usually tend to say that they cannot find the location, I propose we meet in Murla, on the parking lot of the Trinquet. Murla is the valencian capital of the pilota valenciana and for that sports activity an enormous hall has been built outside the village. Coming from Jalón, Orba,Alcalali or Parcent you will enter Murla village via a short street lined with palm trees; at the end of the street you will see a set of new underground dustbins; behind the dustbins you will turn to the right, following the sign that says Trinquet. At the Trinquet I will wait for you till 11.00.
Then we will drive together to the starting point of our walk. Let us suppose we start walking at 11.30.
- It is an easy walk of only a bit more than an hour, over asphalted roads, but there are some slopes. The good thing about slopes is that when you walk up, you can then walk down a bit later. This is how it will be.
- We will conclude our walk at the restaurant round about 13.00, which is exactly the time when the kitchen opens.

If you bring along some bottles you can fill them up with free and very good water from the Font del Gel which is nearby.

IMPORTANT

As the restaurant is a small family business I need to know AT THE VERY LATEST this coming FRIDAY 07.01.2011, who is coming for lunch and WITH HOW MANY PERSONS.
Confirm by e-mail please.

I know this is a rather short message. Nevertheless I hope it is clear.

See you on Sunday 09.01.2011
